Insights and the psychology matrix

The dashboard tells you how you did. Insights tries to tell you why — by putting your discipline and your results side by side instead of reporting them separately.

The psychological vs. financial matrix

Trades are split by whether they followed your rules and by whether they made money. The two diagonals are the ones worth staring at:

• Disciplined and profitable — your actual edge. If this quadrant is thin, your good results are coming from somewhere you cannot repeat.
• Disciplined and unprofitable — the cost of doing business. These are fine. A system with no losing trades that followed the rules is a system that has not been tested.
• Undisciplined and unprofitable — the obvious problem, and the easiest to act on.
• Undisciplined and profitable — the dangerous quadrant. These trades pay you for breaking your own rules, and they are the reason discipline decays. No P&L-based review will ever flag them.

Patterns worth looking for

• Do your rule-breaks cluster after a loss? That is revenge trading, and it is visible as a time pattern rather than a strategy one.
• Does one strategy account for most of your mistakes? Often the rules are unclear rather than the trader undisciplined.
• Do your worst days follow the diary entries you least wanted to write?

Exposure and concentration

The portfolio view breaks down where your capital actually is, which is frequently less diversified than it feels — several correlated positions can be one bet wearing different tickers. Concentration is a risk that does not appear anywhere in your P&L until it does.

A note on sample size

None of this means much over a handful of trades. Early on, treat insights as a description of what you did rather than evidence about what works — the discipline quadrants become trustworthy long before the strategy comparisons do, because following a rule is a fact and a strategy's edge is a statistic.
